Selected Fellowships from: The Coring Museum of Glass, Urban Glass, Vermont Studio Center or La Chambre Blanche in Quebec and Santa Fe Art Institute.

Artist Statement

As a point of departure, my practice is concerned with an ephemeral poetic quality, reflective thought and a moment of recreation through constructed environments, simple technologies and moving light; with crossover in cinema and theatre technologies. Within this foundation I explore qualities of space as a platform of possibilities in the process of re-thinking the traditional divisions of space in both theatre, institutional forms of display and exhibition. Through my installation projects and research, I contemplate how the work exists in these contexts and how its dissemination affects the perception of the viewer. Currently my concepts follow a path of metaphorical and physical ambiguity of light and darkness and their transitory states. Using the tools of cinema and theatre I design visual poems for spaces that are neither theatre nor exhibition. A human form appears in my latest projects by means of choreographed performance in an attempt to envelop movement and gesture within the interactive architecture of the space.  I like to think that visitors of my installations find themselves in a realm of the of their own imaginary world and I understand my work as a channel to the perceptual experience of the viewer. In this sense, the conceptual frames of my installations function as a mirror to a visual poem, which one can either enter or reflect upon one’s own gaze.
